Building upon excellent training

"As a surgeon, I never stop learning. Each patient is unique, and so is every case that is referred to me. I'm proud to have received excellent education and training at respected institutions, because they have enabled me to provide effective surgical solutions, and minimally invasive alternatives. Yet, for me, the learning is never complete. The differences between each person and each case add to my capabilities. In my quest to make a meaningful difference for people in need, I'm committed not only to using my present skills but also to improving them continuously."

Collaborating with you for your best health

"An important part of being a cardiothoracic surgeon is the role of information provider. Only by providing information about disease processes, preventive measures, therapies and treatment options can I truly empower you as a patient. After all, it's your health. And rendering care to the best of my ability means working with you, not on you."

Carrying on a tradition of helping others

"I've always been interested in the science of medicine...and in the ability to have a direct and positive effect on human suffering. My father was a heart surgeon, and I witnessed firsthand his commitment to helping others. I saw the difference he made in people's lives, and I saw how that contribution was so important and gratifying to him. I suppose it became a core value for me - one that I'm proud to have followed."

Dr. Ellertson, Jr. and his wife, Sun, have two children, Audrey & Greg. In his spare time, Dr. Ellertson, Jr. enjoys fly-fishing, hunting, camping, carpentry and spending time with his family.

William G. Cloud, M.D.
"The keys to being an excellent surgeon are the same as being a good human being. It requires understanding, honesty, integrity and perseverance. It requires that I listen carefully. Ultimately, it comes down to treating everyone the way I would treat members of my own family."
