Local Surgeon Raises Awareness of Breast Cancer
Free
educational seminar offered to community
Morganton - Being diagnosed with
breast cancer can be frightening. Often times women
(and men) fear loosing not only their breast but
also their life. The Susan G. Komen
Breast Cancer Foundation reports that approximately
211,400 American women and 1,690 American men will
be diagnosed with breast cancer in
2005.
In observance of National Breast Cancer Awareness
month, Dr. William Cloud of Cloud Surgical Solutions
will be hosting a free seminar
to discuss the importance of screening, early detection
as well as treatment options for breast cancer including
the discussion of MammoSite
Radiation Therapy System and Sentinel
Node Biopsy.

- breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death
among women between ages 40 and 59.
- nationally
1 in 7 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer
in her lifetime. In Burke, Caldwell & Catawba
Counties, studies show that 1 in 6 women will

can detect a lump on average two years before
it can be felt.

with monthly breast self-exams.

This
free breast cancer seminar
will be held Tuesday, October 18
at 6:30 pm in the lobby of Cloud
Surgical Solutions located in
Grace Medical Park at 117 Foothills Drive, Building
D in Morganton.
